Canucks, Oilers Set for Winner-Take-All Game 7
Edmonton Oilers inch closer to Pacific Division lead with 5-1 victory
Decisive Game 7 to determine Western Conference Second Round victor
The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers will square off in a pivotal Game 7 on Monday night at Rogers Arena in Edmonton. The Oilers forced a winner-take-all scenario after routing the Canucks 5-1 in Game 6 on Saturday.
Edmonton outshot Vancouver 14-5 in the second period and extended their lead to 4-1 just 325 seconds into the third period, courtesy of Connor McDavid's third assist of the game. The Oilers' victory brings them within one point of the Canucks for first place in the Pacific Division.
The winner of Game 7 will advance to the Western Conference Finals to face the Dallas Stars. The Stars eliminated the Calgary Flames in five games to book their spot in the next round.
The Oilers have been impressive throughout the playoffs, going 8-3 and outscoring their opponents 42-22. McDavid has been a force, leading the league with 14 points in 11 playoff games.
The Canucks, on the other hand, have been inconsistent in the postseason, going 6-5 and scoring 33 goals while allowing 30. Elias Pettersson has led the offense with 10 points in 11 games.
Game 7 is expected to be a close and exciting affair. The Oilers will be looking to capitalize on their momentum from Game 6, while the Canucks will be desperate to avoid elimination.
