51 Confirmed Cases in Gujarat

Deadly Pathogen Affecting Primarily Children

The Chandipura virus, a deadly pathogen that primarily affects children, has reached alarming levels in Gujarat, with 51 confirmed cases as of August 1, 2024.

According to the Union Health Ministry, 148 cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) have been reported, with 140 from Gujarat and 4 from Madhya Pradesh.

The Ministry also confirmed 51 cases of the Chandipura virus within the state, a significant increase from the 50 reported earlier.

Health authorities are urging parents to take precautions and seek immediate medical attention if their children experience any symptoms of the virus, which include fever, headache, vomiting, and seizures.
