Jelly Roll Says He Wants to Act in a TV Series So He Can Return to the Emmys: 'It's An Honor' (Exclusive)

The rapper and singer discusses expanding his career to include acting and his hopes to return to the Emmys.

Jelly Roll, a rising star in the music industry, has his sights set on a new endeavor: acting. In an exclusive interview with PopCulture.com, the rapper and singer revealed his desire to star in a TV series, with the ultimate goal of returning to the Emmys.

"A buddy of mine, Kevin, does a lot of TV work out in L.A. He's a cinematographer," Jelly Roll explained. "And so we went to the Emmys together, and, you know, I just had this kind of feeling like, 'Man, I would love to do this.' It's an honor, you know? It's like the pinnacle of achievement in the TV world, so it would be a dream come true."

Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, has already had a taste of acting, having appeared in the film "The Last Son" in 2021. However, he is eager to take on a more substantial role in a TV series.

"I think it would be a great way to challenge myself creatively and to grow as an artist," he said. "I've always been a big fan of TV shows, and I think it would be amazing to be a part of something that people can connect with on a weekly basis."

Jelly Roll is currently working on his next album, which is expected to be released later this year. He is also preparing for a tour that will kick off in the fall. Despite his busy schedule, he is determined to make time for acting.

"I'm going to start auditioning for roles as soon as I can," he said. "I'm not sure what kind of role I'm looking for, but I'm open to anything. I just want to find a project that I can really sink my teeth into."

If Jelly Roll does land a role in a TV series, it would be a major step forward in his career. It would also give him the opportunity to return to the Emmys, where he was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2021 for his role in "Yellowstone."

"That was such an amazing experience," he said. "I was so honored to be nominated, and it really gave me the confidence to pursue acting further. I would love to go back to the Emmys one day, but this time as a winner."
